A few weeks ago one of these houses was occupied by left wing activists that are fighting for better accommodation for refugees and especially the closure of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goettinger-tageblatt.de\/Die-Region\/Goettingen\/Weiter-Diskussion-um-Fluechtlingsunterkunft-Siekhoehe-in-Goettingen\">Lager Siekh\u00f6he<\/a> .<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Women in Exile and Friends visited this lager during our \u201c 2016 Bus Tour\u201d and demanded that Women and Children should be accommodated in flats and the<a href=\"https:\/\/omzehn.noblogs.org\/?p=653\"> lager should be closed<\/a> .<br \/>\nThe G\u00f6ttingen City council is making endless promises that the lager will be closed but instead of accommodating the refugees in their empty buildings they are selling them to private investors who often renovate which is making the rental costs to sky rocket and making it a concern for the tenants. This is the reason that this demonstration was in solidarity not only for refugees but also for the tenants.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women in Exile and Friends made a short but clear request to the city authorities:<br \/>\n\u201cNo Lager for women and children\u201d!<br \/>\nClose Seekiel!<br \/>\nAbolish all lagers! and<br \/>\nAffordable housing for all!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Freedom of movement:<br \/>\nRight to come, Right to go, Right to stay!<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Am 12.05.18 w\u00e4hrend der We`ll come United Konferenz in G\u00f6ttingen, Women in Exile and Friends demonstrierten gemeinsam mit anderen Aktivist_innen gegen Fl\u00fcchtlingslager und hohe Mietpreise.
