Just when one tends to think racism is becoming a sensitive subject with the police because of all the international demonstration of \u201cBlack Lives Matter movement\u201d, it is not.\u00a0 I would like to narrate two incidences that happened to two of our black activists in a span of a one week and in two different federal states. The first one was in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the other one in Brandenburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the 10.07. our activist and her family were enjoying a walk on the beach at the east coast (Ostsee<\/em>). A policewoman went straight to them and asked for their identity papers. Fortunately, we in Women in Exile, know our rights. So, she asked the policewoman to control first the people she passed along then come back to them. The policewomen answered, they control even Americans.\u00a0 And of course, it was quite clear which \u201cAmericans\u201d they control or mean. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The woman from our group told her that she knows her rights and then the policewoman walked away.\u00a0 The second incidence happened in Doberlug-Kirchhain on the 15.07 during our rally. A policewoman who had talked very cooperatively to the woman who had registered the demonstration, wanted to see the identity papers of those responsible of keeping the demonstration rules. The policewoman saw our black activist remove her identity card from her wallet but even before she has had a look on it. She started telling her, it is not her identity card. You can imagine the confusion of someone trying to tell you, that you are not the person you trying to proof to be. The only question which could come out at the moment was: \u201cWhat?!?\u201d The police women then took the identity card and said, ok, it is you, but you look like a man. Then she gave it back, excused herself and left.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Some of us experience multiple racism, either because of our skin colour or being identified as refugee because of living in isolation or being in environments where we are not supposed to be seen. This is of course showing the layers covering racism and how it is coming from different players, it could be the police, from institutions which supposedly should be \u201chelping\u201d with our social welfare, jobs and so forth.\u00a0 We are tired of complaining of some of these incidences or talking about them because for sure they are painful. Why so:\u00a0 It does not make any sense when someone who does not know you or you are not connected to start pouring hate, abuse and sometimes violence against you. In two incidences where I had to face my perpetrators in court, because of abusive racist crimes against me, the first thing the presiding judge asked me was, if by any chance I knew the person or if I were related to them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n So, this is, one of the reasons why this does not make any sense even when looked from a legal perspective.\u00a0 Racism is so deeply rooted that racist (micro-) aggressions come automatically and thus hinder humanity. If you or someone you know distributes or profits from such racist (micro-) aggressions: think and ask yourself what the color of your skin has to do with it.\u00a0 We know, that \u2013 speaking with Audre Lorde \u2013 our \u201csilence will not protect\u201d us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n So, keeping silent regarding racism and sexism is not an option!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Vielleicht dachten die Einen, dass all die internationalen Demonstrationen der “Black Lives Matter-Bewegung” bei der Polizei zu mehr Rassismus Sensibilit\u00e4t f\u00fchrten.
