International Women’s Day at the Camp in Wünsdorf – A Day of Solidarity, Strength, and Shared Voices

On International Women’s Day, we gathered at the camp in Wünsdorf to celebrate, connect, and stand together with refugee women* and supporters. The day was filled with courage, solidarity, music, and powerful voices that reminded us why coming together matters.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who took the time to be present and stand in solidarity with us. Your presence turned this gathering into a space of strength, warmth, and collective empowerment. In times when isolation and injustice can feel overwhelming, showing up for one another is a powerful act of resistance.

We are deeply grateful to the women from Women in Exile, as well as members of Lebenslaute, Pan-African Women’s Empowerment & Liberation (PAWLO)-Masoso e.V., KIKO e.V and Uckermark-Initiative. We also thank the groups that joined and have been supporting feminist, anti-racist and FLINTA structures, who joined us in Wünsdorf. Your commitment, energy, and solidarity helped make this day truly meaningful.

Thank you for the powerful and moving speeches that gave voice to the realities, struggles, and resilience of refugee women*. Each word spoken carried courage and truth, reminding us that the fight for dignity, safety, and equal rights continues every day.

We are equally thankful for the beautiful and uplifting songs that filled the space with strength and hope. Music brought us together across languages and backgrounds, creating moments of joy, connection, and collective spirit.

A warm thank you also goes to everyone who contributed in practical and caring ways: those who prepared the delicious sandwiches, tea, and coffee; those who supported with child care so that mothers could participate freely; and those who offered spontaneous translation to ensure that everyone could understand, speak, and be heard. These gestures of care and solidarity are the foundation of community.

International Women’s Day in Wünsdorf was more than a celebration, it was a reminder of our shared struggles and our shared power. Together we created a space where refugee women* could speak, sing, organize, and be visible. Together we affirmed that no woman should stand alone.

Let us carry the spirit of this day forward: continuing to build solidarity, amplify the voices of refugee women*, and challenge the systems that silence, exclude, and marginalize.

Thank you to everyone who stood with us. Our collective strength makes change possible.
